March and the end of the Winter Project!

Hello participants!

The weather is starting to improve and things are busting out all over. I know that Spring will put us all outdoors again to paint en plein air as much as possible.

So, with that in mind, I won't be putting up any more Subjects for our project. However, you will have until the end of March to go back and paint any from any of the previous eight Subjects. Paint as many as you like. I will add your Interpretations to the blog and see if I can't come up with some nifty ways of showing off all of our efforts.

So, paint away! And send your submissions to the address you see in the right hand sidebar.

It's been grand ... let's wrap this up the right way!

And, HAPPY PAINTING! Katherine

Subject #8 Cable Car View

It's cool in the morning but the sun lures you out onto the back platform of the cable car. The brake man knows everything there is to know about his city, San Francisco, and he's more than happy to have an appreciative audience. You photograph the city as you make your way out of Union Square to Fisherman's Wharf.

Here's your chance to play experiment with a city scape, PPASP-ers!

Reminder: Subject to Interpretations with conclude March 30, when the weather will be enticing us outdoors more regularly. Be sure to look back over the previous entries. Later arrivals did not come to your email box, if you are a subscriber.

Happy painting!

Subject #7 Elkhorn Slough

It's a warm day in April and you've gone for a drive. The signs point you toward a hiking trail and birding area and you follow them to this tasty spot. Well, maybe it was the bathroom that really caused you to stop, but once you did, you knew you wanted to paint. Elkhorn Slough on a sunny day. Life is good!

Just a reminder: there are only 3 more Subjects for this project! #10 Subject, posted on March 15, will be the last. If you've been procrastinating, or just telling yourself that you want to do it when you have some more time, please jump in and give it a go! We'll all enjoy seeing your Interpretation!

Happy painting!

Subect #6 North of Davenport

Just north of Santa Cruz, California is the small "town" of Davenport. A post office, gas station, and coffee shop are about all there is for a town center. But, just up the road from Davenport is this view of the coast. Gulls soar along the cliff edge and cypress trees grow in small clusters and the wind is relentless. You don't mind. From here, you can practically see the earth curve.

Subject #5 Summer Sunrise at the Bay

It's early in the morning, around 5:30, but you have to get up that early to catch the sunrise in the summer. You don't mind because as it comes over the coastal mountains the light illuminates all of the landscape with a sweet glow. Early morning and anything is possible.

January 1, 2010. The first day of a new year and anything is possible!
